TEACHING

Undergraduate:

Professor Robinson has been deeply involved in undergraduate and post-graduate teaching for most of his career. His main teaching area comprised basic biochemistry to dental, medical and, science students. This was delivered originally under the auspices of the Department of Biochemistry in which he was an honorary staff member. To ensure good liaison between pre clinical service departments and the Dental School the post of Pre-Clinical Dean was inaugurated. Professor Robinson held this post from 1992 to 2002.

With changes in funding and requirements of the General Dental Council, the Dental School took over Biochemistry teaching for dental undergraduates and Professor Robinson presided over an expansion of the course to include molecular biology, nutrition and behavioural sciences.

During this period Professor Robinson was elected Chairman of the Association of Basic Science teachers in Dentistry. During his chairmanship this developed from a UK based organisation into a European wide organisation concerned with basic science issues across Europe.

Postgraduate:

Professor Robinson has supervised over 25 successful PhD students and a number of research masters. During his period as head of Oral Biology a taught Masters course in Oral Biology was developed.
